Synagogue of Excellence Award - Again


Congregation Beth Shalom received the “Synagogue of Excellence Pictured, Rabbi Mark Zimmerman, Eileen Cohn, Religious School Director, and Joel Axler, Beth Shalom President hold Beth Shalom's third Synagogue of Excellence Award.Award” from the Southeast Region of the United Synagogue of Conservative Judaism for the third time at the UJSC-SE biannual convention in Boca Raton in November. Only four congregations in the region, which consists of 87 congregations in seven states, Barbados, Cuba and Puerto Rico, were honored with the Synagogue of Excellence Award for outstanding programming.


“We are all very proud to have again won the USCJ Synagogue of Excellence Award,” said Rabbi Mark Zimmerman. “This award reflects on the dedication of our entire congregation and staff in creating meaningful and innovative Jewish experiences for our community.”



In total, Congregation Beth Shalom took home six awards for exceptional programming. They also were recognized for excellence in Adult Education, Hebrew School, Early Childhood Education, Family Programming and Publications and Bulletins.



“It’s an honor to accept this prestigious award on behalf of our incredible congregation,” added Joel Axler, synagogue president. “We have one of the most supportive and involved memberships in the region, and that’s why we continue to be recognized for our excellence.


Rabbi Zimmerman also participated in the regional Kallah (gathering) of rabbis, which coincides with the convention. Beth Shalom president, Joel Axler, attended the conference on behalf of the shul.
